Complete Practice
Supine, arms by the sides. Choose a single small joint — say, the distal interphalangeal joint of the index finger — and oscillate it at the fastest rate you can sustain for thirty seconds. Locate the second site in the body that begins to vibrate sympathetically without your asking it to — a quiver at the wrist, a flicker at the shoulder, a small motion at the jaw. Challenge: The second site may be motor leakage rather than mechanical coupling, and the experiment cannot distinguish them.
