Lie supine. Use one finger to tap the floor beside the ribs, hard enough to feel a return impulse through the floor into the ribcage. Now reduce the tap force progressively until you cannot feel the rib response. Locate the precise force at which the rib system flips from non-response to response, and whether that threshold drifts upward (sensitization) or downward (habituation) over a minute. Challenge: A solo practitioner cannot calibrate the tap force precisely, so the threshold reading is rough — but the directional drift over time is the real datum and survives that imprecision.
